If you want a society run by working people, achieve democracy first.
Then, socialize the wealth...not the labor pool.

The Soviet Union RAN the working class -- it was not run by them!
This was true from the first year the Bolsheviks were in power.
Those sorts of regimes have no relationship to what I consider socialism.

On the other hand, if you just want a nice democracy and none of that nasty socialism, just realize that as long as the capitalists call the shots, democracy will always come second.
